About Us

Mai-Wel’s Youth Employment Services deliver Workforce Australia – Transition to Work, a specialist program designed to support young people aged 15 to 24 to gain the skills, confidence and experience needed to move into employment, training or further study.

With more than 65 years of experience supporting individuals and communities across the Hunter Region, Mai-Wel provides a supportive environment where young people can identify their strengths, develop employability skills and prepare for meaningful work.

Transition to Work provides:

  • Individual mentoring, goal-setting and career guidance
  • Support with résumés, job applications and interview preparation
  • Access to accredited training and real-world work experience
  • Opportunities to build communication, teamwork and job-readiness skills
  • Ongoing coaching to help maintain employment or training outcomes
  • Links with local employers and community networks

Connections to other Mai-Wel supports:

Transition to Work can complement other programs delivered by Mai-Wel, such as NDIS Employment Pathways and School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES). These programs assist students in Years 10–12 and recent school leavers with disability to develop practical skills and confidence to move from school to employment or further education. Participants may also engage with the Mai-Wel Academy and Academy Prep, which provide hands-on learning, accredited training and workplace experience.

Who can access this service:

Transition to Work is available to young people aged 15 to 24 who are not currently in full-time employment or education and who are eligible for the Australian Government’s Workforce Australia – Transition to Work program.
