First Nations Cancer Wellness Service

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service now has a dedicated new First Nations Cancer Wellness service, which is supporting patients and families across Far North Queensland.

The service supports people after their cancer treatment, ensuring their care is culturally safe and closer to home. ??

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Jay Haldane from the First Nations Cancer Wellness Service says it’s a wonderful step forward.

“The service is available to patients, carers and family members of people living with cancer in FNQ. People can ring us and ask for help. You don’t need a referral,” said Jay.

The team’s goal is to empower patients to be fully involved in their health journey and to strengthen support for families and communities.
