Wandir Gunde Playgroup

Wandir Gunde (meaning Little Stars) Playgroup is a free playgroup that meets each week during school term offering a friendly place for parents to share time with other families in the Dalby area. Open to children under school age, we offer a range of activities to meet each child’s varying needs through play and interaction with our supervisors.  Afternoon tea is also provided, along with a full range of play equipment, arts, crafts, and music.  This year we introduce our ‘School Ready’ program for 3-4 year olds, helping with the transition to school for both children and parents.

Wandir Gunde Playgroup is an initiative of Goondir Health Services and funded through the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Funding

Goondir Health Services has received funding from the National Indigenous Australians Agency to make tangible progress towards the targets set by the Council of Australian Governments.

• Halve the gap in mortality rates for children under 5
• Ensure access to program for remote children
• Halve the gap in reading, writing and numeracy achievements for children by 2018

Aims

• To support indigenous families and carers to give children a good start in life through improved early childhood development, health care, education and school readiness.
• A focus on supporting families with under school aged children who would not normally access a community playgroup

Playgroup meets during school term each Wednesday afternoon from 9.30am – 11.30am at Mary Street Programs Building Dalby.
