About Us

The Youth Leaders currently service a regional population of 161,000 people (ABS, 2016), with approximately 27,500 of these residents being young people aged 12 to 24. The Regional Youth Leaders play an important role in ensuring our programs are relevant, meet the needs of local young people and have the greatest reach possible. The Youth Leaders also get the opportunity to learn about our processes and the role of local governments. We encourage them to have a say and develop grassroots projects to create positive change – not only for our Region's young people but the wider community. As part of their role, the Youth Leaders provide a voice for other young people, identify community issues and share information on opportunities for young people to connect to events, programs and service providers. The Youth Leaders represent areas from across the entire Toowoomba Region. As part of the program, the Youth Leaders learn about local events, programs and youth services. They are encouraged to represent the voice of young people in the Toowoomba Region and develop projects for the benefit of not only young people but the wider community.
