About Us

Story Dogs continues to deliver over 60,000 one-on-one reading sessions per year. We recruit, train, accredit, place and support volunteers and their dogs into over 300 primary schools around Australia, helping many young children learn to read.

Our mission is to create a safe, fun, supportive, non-judgmental environment for primary school aged children needing assistance with literacy.

When children read to a dog, the outcomes are amazing! It is a non-judgmental setting, the children's focus improves, their literacy skills increase and their confidence soars. The accepting, loving nature of dogs gives this program its magic and helps children relax, open up, try harder and have fun while reading to a friendly, calm dog. Woof!
