Through our community garden, we aim to:
- Provide access to healthy activity for residents of diverse ages and mobility
- Enhance the health potential of residents through enhancement of their natural environment
- Increase the social capital of Fitzgibbon Chase by enabling connections among neighbours
- Encourage volunteering
- Mentor development of communal skills
- Engage in shared activities with other Fitzgibbon Chase groups such as Neighbourhood Watch
- Build networks beyond Fitzgibbon with relevant community groups
- Increase access to healthy food for participants
- Increase awareness of previously unfamiliar foods
- Decrease food costs for participants
- Increase environmental awareness
- Provide education settings to teach healthy eating habits and related issues
- Share cooking tips using the produce of the garden
- Provide educational opportunities about bush tucker gardening for residents and pupils/ students of local schools
- Increase awareness of communal responsibilities through adherence to Health and Safety requirements and garden guidelines.
