About Us
Gold Coast LAC volunteers help build community resilience and promote health literacy by conducting awareness programs in their local community. These awareness programs are not accredited courses – Which means you don’t get a qualification when you complete them. They may be conducted at public events, schools, libraries, sporting clubs, community groups, etc.
The programs we currently offer at the Gold Coast LAC include CPR Awareness, First Aid Awareness, First Aid Awareness for Infants/Young Children, Snakes Alive, Mental Fitness, Stop the Bleed, Diabetes Awareness, and RESQ R000’s.
These programs may be conducted in a structured session, or via an interactive display. Structured sessions are approximately one hour in duration and follow a PowerPoint or script and can be adapted for any number of participants. These sessions provide an in-depth learning experience for participants.
Interactive displays are held at events, where the LAC host a display. These displays engage passersby in quick, hands-on learning activities such as CPR, EpiPen usage, applying snake bite bandages, ambulance vehicle tours, answering questions, and promoting awareness of the Emergency Plus app.
