About Us

The Bush Circle provides a space for children and their parents or guardians to connect with nature. Sessions aim to spark adventure and wonder through play in the wild bush, while providing a space for like minded community members to come together.

The Bush Circle aims to provide a supported and kind space, where children can take risks and challenge themselves within the surrounding natural environment. Making connections with nature together can foster a love for Earth and create a shared custodianship of our planet.

Sessions are aimed at children aged 1 to 5 years and their parents or guardians. In order to keep sessions intimate and limit our impact on the environment, the number of participants is limited.

Bush Playgroup sessions are all-weather and held weekly throughout the school term. Check the website for current session times and to make a booking.

Each session follows the rhythm of nature and is child-led. Offered activities include:

  • nature craft

  • mud play

  • loose parts play

  • cubby building

  • flora and fauna spotting and identification

  • storytelling

  • circle time

  • nature walks

  • bush safety

  • and best of all, unstructured play.

Bush Playgroup is set in a relaxed environment amongst the trees. Most sessions are held at our home base, where we return regularly so that children can make connections and observe seasonal changes.

Bush playgroup is held at Ironstone Creek Sanctuary, on Gubbi Gubbi Country in the Mary Valley. It is approximately 40 minutes drive from Noosa and 30 minutes from Gympie.
