Next Step Disability Service Mackay

Next Step Disability Service has been established in Mackay and the Fraser Coast response to local community demand for quality disability support service that operates under the guidelines of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. (NDIS) and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)

We work with people from all walks of life, cultures and ages. The age cut off point from NDIS is 65 However if you are under the age of 65 when your plan was started it shall remain in place after you reach this age.

In a nut shell the majority of our supports include but not limited to:

• Support around the home includes, cooking, grocery shopping, budgeting, house cleaning and gardening.
• Support with transport such as catching the bus up town or a visit out to the harbor for lunch.
• Lunch groups where we meet up town for lunch. Each participant chooses where they would like to go each week.
• Cooking groups. We have access to a commercial kitchen where our participants can learn how to choose a meal, purchase ingredients, prepare and cook the meal. This is a good starting point for anyone who inspires to volunteer or even gain paid employment as a kitchen hand or other hospitality options.
• Support in attending sporting events such as football, cricket, basketball  what ever you choose...
• Catching concerts or other highly popular shows at the MECC.
• Fishing Group. The choice is open on this one. so many places to go. Where ever your passion to fish we shall support you in doing this.
• Supported weekends away. Maybe you would like to go to to Townsville for a couple nights to catch a Cowboys game..
• Going to see a movie at either of our cinemas.
• Ten pin bowling
• Bingo groups
• Beach barbecues.
• Fitness group. this includes support at the gym, swimming pool and walking on one of our many walk ways.
