They can assist someone experiencing life challenges or facing difficult choices to find a way to make sense of their situation and move towards wholeness and healing. A psychologist is a specialist in human behaviour. They are trained in diagnosis and a variety of therapies to assist with mental health issues, disability or developmental/educational issues. They work with individuals, groups or social systems, conduct psychological assessments and develop intervention plans. A psychologist undergoes a minimum of six years study and training, often including a Masters degree or PhD. They must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
