About Us
Why would you want to join the Australian Army Cadets (AAC)? Well, there are lots of reasons! Apart from getting involved in all kinds of action and adventures, you'll also make heaps of new friends. Joining the Army Cadets is your chance to experience a really awesome time by getting into some adventurous activities conducted in a military setting.
As a cadet, you'll learn to be confident, self sufficient and willing to 'have a go'. It's your opportunity to discover new challenges and have some unbelievable fun. You'll also learn to lead others and work as a member of a team. You'll be able to do things for yourself and help your friends learn too. Cadet life is physical but not risky - and you won't have to be a superwoman or superman. Qualified and experienced cadet officers will instruct you. Safety is always a top priority.
Australian Defence Force Cadets and cadet staff are drawn from a diverse range of unique backgrounds and experiences. All are committed to providing and enjoying a positive and safe youth development experience, respecting the value and dignity of all people, and recognising the particular rights and needs of young people.
ADF Cadets aim to be inclusive of all young people and staff, including those with disabilities, health conditions and allergies. All reasonable steps will be taken to include any person whose individual circumstances may necessitate special consideration in cadet unit activities, provided such steps do not jeopardize the safety or cadet experience of others.
Boys & Girls who are 13 years of age anytime in the year are eligible to enrol in the AAC. Once enrolled, they may remain as a cadet until the end of the year in which they attain 18 years of age.
306 ACU (Monash) was formed on 01 June 1992 at the Whiton St depot.
306 ACU's (Monsh) Army foster unit is Melbourne University Regiment (MUR).

AAC embraces unified Defence Values On the 1st of October 2020 the Secretary and Chief of the Defence Force released a unifying set of Values across Defence. For the first time in Defence's history we have the same set of Defence Values across Army, Air Force, Navy and the Defence civilian workforce. Given the Australian Army Cadet's alignment with Army, our values will transition from Courage, Initiative, Respect and Teamwork to: • Service. The selflessness of character to place the security and interests of our nation and its people ahead of my own. • Courage. The strength of character to say and do the right thing, always, especially in the face of adversity. • Respect. The humanity of character to value others and treat them with dignity. • Integrity. The consistency of character to align my thoughts, words and actions to do what is right. • Excellence. The willingness of character to strive each day to be the best I can be, both professionally and personally. To live the Defence Values, we ask that you: • Act with purpose for the nation. • Be adaptable, innovative and agile. • Collaborate and be team-focused. • Be accountable and trustworthy. • Reflect, learn and improve. • Be inclusive and value others. It is important to recognise that the values of Initiative and Teamwork, are still important, as are many other values that underpin appropriate behaviour and what it means to be a good community member and leaders. The new values are a reflection of what Defence holds as central to the performance of its people. The AACs expectation of its people align strongly with these values, and as we transition to including the new values within our policy, training and branding, we are encouraging Army Cadet Units and cadets to commence conversations about what these values mean to them and our organisation.
