Crisis Support Services

Shalom House is a not for profit Christian community organisation that provides support services to homeless, at risk, disadvantaged and marginalized people.  Shalom Inc. aims to provide a linking point between other community/professional services and the ‘street’ and to empower disadvantaged people with the skills to make positive changes in their lives.

 Services

Shalom House: Shelter based crisis accommodation from 4:00pm-8:00am every day from May through October.

Eligibility:

  • Male 18 years and over
  • Homeless, at risk of homelessness or in crisis
  • Involved with, or willing to accept referral to, a case management service
  • Actively involved in addressing their housing difficulties

Intake and Assessment:

  • Bookings (agency or self-referral) preferred.  Please call Shalom House for further details.
  • Clients will need some form of Identification.
  • An immediate crisis assessment interview will take place when clients arrive on the premises on the first night only. 
  • Clients will be required to pay $10 per night to help cover expenses.

Shalom Access (Drop in Centre): An open access drop in centre for any disadvantaged, at risk or marginalised individuals.  A safe place to come and relax, grab a bit to eat and have a cuppa and a chat.  Some of the more tangible services Shalom Access offers are access to a shower for personal hygiene, a healthy meal, internet access and a laundry service.  Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am-2pm. Shalom Garden: Shalom garden is a garden that provides disadvantaged, at risk or marginalised individuals the chance to come and plant and maintain a garden.  It also offers them the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and social interaction while also providing access to support and qualified individuals.  Open year round.  No eligibility or referral requirements.  Any queries please contact our Coordinator on the details contained in this brochure.
